Meet the Photographer!

Hey y’all! I’m Krista 🤎

I’m the girl behind the camera at Rustic Shutter Photography! I’m an outgoing, creative, Southern girl who loves connecting with people, making memories, and finding the beauty in the little things.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me doing something outdoors. I love hunting, fishing, and spending time at the beach—the OBX is truly my home away from home. I’m also always up for a winery or brewery trip, hosting a get-together, or simply spending time with my family and friends.

I married my amazing husband, RJ, in May 2023, and in August 2025, I stepped into my favorite role yet—Mama to our beautiful baby girl. Our family also includes our two Labs, Daisy Mae & Cooper, plus a whole pack of hunting dogs, so life at our house is rarely quiet... and I wouldn’t have it any other way! By day, I work in Human Resources and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management. Photography actually found me somewhat unexpectedly in 2019, and what started as something I enjoyed quickly turned into a true passion. I began teaching myself the ins and outs of photography and discovered just how much I loved the creativity, attention to detail, and most importantly, the ability to freeze a moment in time.

I’ve always been the person studying a photo, noticing the smallest details, and thinking about how I could make it a little more meaningful or unique. That same attention goes into every session I photograph. I capture and edit your images with the same care I would give my own family’s memories.

My photography is all about real people, real connections, and real emotion. Of course, we’ll get those beautiful, classic portraits for Grandma’s fireplace—but some of my favorite images are the ones in between. The belly laughs, happy tears, little glances, tight hugs, crazy dance moves, and moments you didn’t even realize I was capturing. Because at the end of the day, photos are memories frozen in time, and years from now, they’ll mean even more than they do today.
